This living room remodel stands out as a particularly rewarding project. Beyond its striking aesthetic, the project presented several unique engineering and design challenges that made it exceptionally engaging.
The client desired a spacious, luminous environment with adjustable shelving to showcase their art collection. A key requirement was the ability to reposition the shelves without compromising the integrated lighting. To address this, we developed a system of 85-inch-long shelves with top and bottom lighting. These shelves incorporate a clever design where the light bars make contact with the cabinet sides, ensuring a continuous power supply for illumination.
Further enhancing the sophistication of the design, we incorporated elegant finger pull details on the drawer faces, accented with subtle metal plates for a touch of refinement.
The existing ceiling tray underwent a significant transformation. We squared off the corners and introduced a series of floating ceiling beams with integrated LED lighting, casting a warm glow across the ceiling. A significant engineering challenge arose from the substantial length of these beams. To ensure their stability, we developed an innovative internal cable system, akin to a suspension bridge, guaranteeing their structural integrity and maintaining a perfectly straight line.
Meticulous on-site supervision was crucial to ensure the framing crew executed the vision precisely. To streamline the installation process and maintain the highest level of quality, we prefabricated the entire ceiling beam system in our workshop. This allowed for a swift and efficient on-site installation, ensuring the utmost precision in every detail.
